The Discriminator prevents the loading of a Live Round Belt into or be fired out of the M240 Feed tray while the M240 BFD is installed
This Safety feature assists in the proper function of the system, with the ease of mind that live rounds cannot be loaded via belt.
This will also prevent the German Blank Round from feeding. ( see video)
This is a safe cost effective device for boots on the ground to conduct safe realistic training.

Proper Physical inspection of Blank and Live rounds prior to any blank fire should be conducted by the RSO or unit level supervisor and operator of the weapon system.
